Frequently asked questions
How do I use Domain Registration Date Lookup?
1. Enter the domain: Type a bare domain such as example.com in Domain name. 2. Run the lookup: Press Run Domain Registration Date Lookup and answer the security check if one is shown. 3. Read the age: The result shows the age in years, months and days, with the registration and expiry dates.
How is the domain age determined?
From the registration date in the registry’s RDAP data. The tool counts the years, months and days from that date to today (UTC).
Which extensions are supported?
Every extension whose registry publishes RDAP, which includes .com, .net, .org and most newer extensions. Some country codes, such as .de, do not publish RDAP, and the tool says so.
Does the creation date show how old the website is?
No. It marks the start of the current registration. If a domain expired and was registered again, the date starts over, and it says nothing about when a site was first published or who owned it before.
What is sent and stored?
The domain goes from the GigaTools server to the registry’s RDAP service and the reply is returned to you privately, without caching. Each run passes a bot check and counts toward a daily limit per IP address; the tool does not save the domain.
