How do I use JSON Formatter & Validator?

Can I change the indentation width?
No. Pretty-print always indents with four spaces per level, and Minify removes indentation and line breaks completely. There are no tab or two-space options.
What does the error message tell me?
If the JSON cannot be parsed, you see what is wrong, such as a missing comma or an invalid escape, with the line and column where the parser stopped. The real mistake is often just before that point.
Will my data come back exactly as I entered it?
Yes, apart from whitespace. Keys keep their order, empty objects stay {}, and numbers and strings are copied exactly as written, so very large integers keep every digit. Duplicate keys are kept and listed with their line numbers.
Is my JSON sent to a server?
Yes. The JSON is submitted to the GigaTools server, formatted there and returned in the response; the tool does not save it. Avoid pasting production secrets, tokens or personal data.
