How do I use BMI Calculator?
1. Choose your units: In Units, select Metric (kg / cm) or Imperial (lb / in). 2. Enter weight and height: Type your Weight and Height in the chosen units. How is BMI calculated?
Metric: weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. Imperial: 703 × weight in pounds divided by height in inches squared. The result is rounded to one decimal place.
What do the categories mean?
The tool uses the standard adult cut-offs: below 18.5 is Underweight, 18.5 to under 25 is Normal weight, 25 to under 30 is Overweight, and 30 or more is Obese.
How accurate is BMI?
BMI is a rough screening estimate, not a diagnosis or medical advice. It ignores muscle mass, body frame, age and sex, and the adult categories do not apply to children and teens. Talk to a health professional about your results; for calorie targets, see the Calorie Deficit Calculator.
Are my height and weight saved?
Your values are sent to the GigaTools server, calculated and returned straight away. The response is marked private and not cached, and the tool does not save your measurements.
