How do I use Page Size Checker?

Does the size include images, CSS and JavaScript?
No. Only the document at the URL you enter is downloaded and measured, usually the HTML. Images, stylesheets, scripts and fonts that the page loads are not fetched, so the total weight in a browser is normally much larger.
Is the measured size compressed or uncompressed?
The tool does not ask the server for gzip or Brotli, so most servers send the uncompressed document and that is what gets counted. With compression, the bytes a browser actually transfers are usually fewer. Response headers are not included.
What happens with redirects and errors?
Redirects are followed and the final page is measured. The download stops at 20 MB, so a larger page is shown with a + after the size. If the server returns an error status such as 404 or 500, does not answer within 15 seconds, or the address resolves to a private network, no size is shown. Some sites block automated requests or send them different HTML.
Who sees the request?
The page is fetched from the GigaTools server with the user agent GigaTools/1.0, so the website sees the server’s IP address, not yours. The URL and the page are not stored. Runs pass an automatic bot check and count toward a daily per-IP limit.
