Frequently asked questions

How do I use QR Code Decoder?

1. Choose a QR code image: Click the QR code image field and pick a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code. 2. Let your browser decode it: Decoding starts as soon as the file is selected, so there is no button to press. The open-source jsQR library reads the code on your device. 3. Copy the decoded content: The text or link stored in the code appears under Decoded content. Check any link before you open it.

What if no QR code is detected?

The decoder needs a reasonably sharp image. Crop the picture so the code fills more of the frame, or try a larger, clearer file.

Does it open the link for me?

No. It only shows the decoded text, so you can check a URL before deciding whether to visit it.

Which images can I use?

Any image format your browser can display, such as PNG, JPEG or WebP. If a picture holds several codes, only one is returned.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is read and decoded entirely in your browser. It is not sent to the GigaTools server or to any other service.
