Frequently asked questions

How do I use My IP Address?

1. Open the tool: There is nothing to fill in: the form only shows a short notice instead of input fields. 2. Press Run My IP Address: Your browser sends a request to the GigaTools server, which reads the address the connection arrives from. 3. Copy the detected IP: The address appears in the result panel. Use the Copy button to paste it wherever you need it.

Which IP address does the tool show?

It shows the public address GigaTools sees for your connection. The site runs behind Cloudflare, so the server uses the visitor address Cloudflare passes on (the CF-Connecting-IP header) instead of a Cloudflare address. It can be IPv4 or IPv6.

Why is it different from the IP in my device settings?

Devices on a home or office network usually have private addresses such as 192.168.x.x. The tool shows the shared public address your network uses on the internet.

Does it show my location or internet provider?

No. The result is only the IP address itself. The tool does not look up location, provider or any other details.

Is my IP sent to any other service?

No. Running the tool only sends a request to the GigaTools server and no third-party lookup is made. The result page is marked private and is not cached. If you use a VPN or proxy, you will see its address instead of your own.
