Frequently asked questions
How do I use Bank to IFSC Code?
1. Enter the bank and branch: Type the bank name, such as HDFC or State Bank of India, in Bank and the branch or area in Branch. 2. Run the lookup: Press Run Bank to IFSC Code. An automatic security check may run first. 3. Confirm the exact code: If the bank is one of the major banks the tool recognises, you see its usual IFSC prefix, plus links to search the branch online and to the RBI IFSC directory.
Does it give me the full IFSC code?
No. There is no free reverse lookup, so it only shows the first five characters for about a dozen major banks, such as SBI, HDFC, ICICI and Axis. Confirm the full code with your bank.
What do the first five characters mean?
An IFSC has 11 characters: four letters for the bank, a zero, then six characters for the branch. The prefix shown covers the bank letters and the zero.
How do I check a code once I have it?
Paste it into the IFSC Code to Bank Details tool to see the bank and branch details linked to it.
Where is my input processed?
The bank and branch names are sent to the GigaTools server and matched against a short built-in list; no outside service is contacted. The search link only opens Google if you click it.
