Frequently asked questions
How do I use Meta Tags Analyzer?
1. Copy the page source: Open the page in your browser, view its source and copy the HTML, or at least the head section. 2. Paste it into the form: Paste the code into the Paste your HTML box and press Run Meta Tags Analyzer. 3. Check the two findings: The result shows the title and meta description it found, or Not found when either one is missing.
What does it check?
Only the page title and the meta description. Canonical, robots, Open Graph and other tags are not inspected, and the length of the text is not scored.
Can it analyze a URL?
No. It does not fetch pages and reads only the HTML you paste, so tags added later by JavaScript are missed unless you paste the rendered code.
Why does it say Not found when my page has a description?
The check expects name="description" to come before content inside the meta tag, so the reverse order is reported as missing. A description that contains an apostrophe or quotation mark is also shown cut off at that character.
Where is my HTML processed?
The HTML is submitted to the GigaTools server, which reads it to find the two tags and returns the findings. It is not passed to any other service, and the result page is marked private and not indexed.
