Frequently asked questions

How do I use Get Source Code of Webpage?

1. Enter the page URL: Paste a full public address starting with http:// or https:// into Public URL. 2. Fetch the source: Press Run Get Source Code of Webpage. The GigaTools server downloads the page and waits up to 10 seconds for it. 3. Inspect or copy the HTML: The raw HTML is shown as plain text; use the Copy button to move it into your editor.

Is this the same as the page I see in my browser?

It is the HTML the server sends before any JavaScript runs. Content that scripts add later, as in many single-page apps, will not appear. The server may also send different HTML to the GigaTools/1.0 user agent than to a regular browser.

Does any code from the page run?

No. The source is shown as escaped text, so scripts, styles and embedded content are neither executed nor rendered. Linked files such as CSS, JavaScript and images are not fetched.

Is there a size limit?

Only the first 200,000 bytes of the response are displayed; longer pages are cut off at that point. Redirects are followed, but pages that return an error status such as 404, take longer than 10 seconds, or resolve to a private network address are not shown.

Who sees the request?

The page is fetched from the GigaTools server, so the website sees the server’s IP address, not yours. The URL and the source are not stored. Runs pass an automatic bot check and count toward a daily per-IP limit.
