Frequently asked questions

How do I use URL Parser?

1. Paste a full URL: Enter the complete address, including http:// or https://, into the URL field. 2. Run the parser: Press Run URL Parser to split the address into its parts. 3. Review components and parameters: Read the scheme, host, port, user, password, path and fragment, followed by a table of decoded query parameters.

Why is my URL rejected?

The address must pass PHP’s URL validation, so it needs a scheme such as https:// and a valid host. Relative paths and bare domains are rejected. Hosts with non-ASCII characters, such as münchen.de, are accepted and also shown in punycode.

How are repeated query parameters handled?

Each parameter gets its own row in the original order, so a=1&a=2 shows two rows and tags[]=a&tags[]=b shows both values under tags[].

Are parameter values decoded?

Yes. Percent-encoding and plus signs are decoded, so you see readable values. Parameter names are shown exactly as written, so a.b stays a.b.

Is the URL sent to a server?

Yes. It is submitted to the GigaTools server and parsed there, but the tool never opens the URL and does not store it. Remove tokens or passwords from links before pasting them.
