Frequently asked questions
How do I use UUID Generator?
1. Set how many you need: Enter a number from 1 to 50 in How many UUIDs? The default is 5. 2. Generate the list: Press Run UUID Generator to create a fresh batch of identifiers. 3. Copy them into your project: Copy the UUIDs from the result list into your fixtures, seed data or database.
Which UUID version is generated?
Version 4 UUIDs in the RFC 4122 variant, built from 122 random bits. Time-based versions such as v1 or v7 are not offered.
How random are they?
Each UUID comes from PHP’s random_bytes, a cryptographically secure source, with the version and variant bits set as the standard requires. That makes collisions practically impossible.
Can I get uppercase UUIDs or no hyphens?
There is no option for that. The output is always lowercase in the hyphenated 8-4-4-4-12 format, so change the case or remove hyphens in your editor if needed.
Where are the UUIDs created?
On the GigaTools server, which returns them in the response without keeping a copy. The only thing you send is the number of UUIDs, so no sensitive input is involved.
