Frequently asked questions
How do I use Meta Tag Generator?
1. Enter the page title: Type the title for this one page in the Page title field. The field accepts up to 60 characters. 2. Describe the page: Write a short summary of what the page offers in the Page description field, up to 160 characters. 3. Copy the generated tags: Press Run Meta Tag Generator, then use Copy to take the title and meta description lines into the head of your page.
Which tags does it create?
Exactly two: a <title> element and a <meta name="description"> tag built from your text. It does not create Open Graph, Twitter, robots or canonical tags.
Does it write the text for me?
No. It formats the title and description you type. It does not suggest wording, add keywords or rewrite anything.
Why are the fields limited to 60 and 160 characters?
The limits keep drafts short enough for search results, but search engines may still shorten or rewrite them. Quotation marks, ampersands and angle brackets are escaped in the generated tags, so they cannot break the HTML.
Where is my text processed?
Your title and description are submitted to the GigaTools server, which builds the two tags and sends them back. They are not passed to any other service, and the result page is marked private and not indexed.
