Frequently asked questions

How do I use Site Search Preview?

1. Enter your domain: Type a domain or URL into the Domain or URL field; any protocol and path are removed. 2. Generate the search links: Run the tool to create a site: search for that domain on Google and on Bing. 3. Open the searches: Open each button in a new tab and scan the results for a rough idea of which pages are listed.

Does this tool count my indexed pages?

No. GigaTools does not query Google or Bing. It only builds site: search links, and the result counts those searches show are rough estimates that can change from one search to the next.

How do I see exactly which pages are indexed?

For a site you own, use the Pages report and URL Inspection in Google Search Console, and Bing Webmaster Tools for Bing. Those are the authoritative sources.

Why is a page missing from the site: results?

A site: search does not list every indexed page, so a missing page is not proof that it is unindexed. Check that URL with URL Inspection in Search Console instead.

What is sent where?

The domain goes to the GigaTools server only to build the two links; no search is run from the server. Google or Bing receive the query only when you open a link.
