Frequently asked questions

How do I use Safe Browsing Review?

1. Enter the URL to review: Paste a full public address, including https://, into the Public URL field. 2. Run the HTTPS check: The GigaTools server sends one HEAD request with certificate verification and shows the domain and whether the certificate could be verified. 3. Open Google Safe Browsing: Use the Check Google Safe Browsing link to see Google’s own verdict for the URL in its Transparency Report.

Does GigaTools scan the site for malware?

No. GigaTools does not run a malware scanner or query Google’s Safe Browsing database. The authoritative verdict is on Google’s Safe Browsing page, linked in the result.

What does Valid mean in the result?

It means the site answered the HEAD request and, for an HTTPS address, the certificate passed verification. It says nothing about malware, phishing or what the page contains.

My site is flagged by Google. What should I do?

Open the Security issues report in Google Search Console for your property, clean the site and request a review there. The Safe Browsing lookup only shows the current status.

What is sent where?

The URL goes to the GigaTools server, which sends one HEAD request to the site. Google receives the URL only if you open the Safe Browsing link. Runs pass a security check and count toward a daily per-IP limit.
