Frequently asked questions
How do I use Page Speed Checker?
1. Enter a public URL: Paste the full address of the page you want to test into Public URL. 2. Run the audit: GigaTools asks Google PageSpeed Insights for a mobile performance audit of that page. 3. Note the score and conditions: Write down the score, the date and what you changed, then test again after your next change.
What does the result show?
A single Lighthouse performance score from 0 to 100 for the mobile version of the page, as returned by Google PageSpeed Insights. It does not show the individual metrics, desktop results or the list of opportunities.
Why does the score change between runs?
Lighthouse runs a fresh lab test each time, so network conditions and server load can move the score. Compare several runs under similar conditions rather than reacting to one number.
What if no score is returned?
Google limits how many audits it runs for requests without an API key, and the audit can also time out or refuse the page. In that case the tool shows a link to open the same URL directly in PageSpeed Insights, where you also see the full breakdown.
Who processes the URL?
The GigaTools server sends the URL to Google’s PageSpeed Insights service, which loads and tests the page. Private addresses are refused, and the check is protected by reCAPTCHA and a daily per-IP limit.
