Frequently asked questions

How do I use Google PageSpeed Insights Checker?

1. Enter a public URL: Paste the full address, including https://, into the Public URL field. Private and local addresses are rejected. 2. Run the audit: The GigaTools server asks Google’s PageSpeed Insights API for a mobile performance audit of that URL. 3. Read the score: You see the mobile Lighthouse performance score out of 100. If no score comes back, use the link to open PageSpeed Insights directly.

What does the result include?

Only the mobile Lighthouse performance score. Desktop results, real-user Core Web Vitals, the other Lighthouse categories and detailed recommendations are in the full report on pagespeed.web.dev.

Why does my score change between runs?

Lighthouse is a lab test, and network conditions, server response times and third-party scripts vary from run to run. Compare several runs before drawing conclusions.

Is a high score enough for good rankings?

No. The lab score is a diagnostic aid. Google’s page experience signals rely on real-user Core Web Vitals, which you can check in Google Search Console or in the field data of PageSpeed Insights.

What is sent where?

The URL goes to the GigaTools server, which passes it to Google’s PageSpeed Insights API, and Google then loads the page. Runs pass a security check and count toward a daily per-IP limit, and the result is not saved.
