FAQ

Good to know

How do I use Redirect Map Checker?

1. Paste or open your CSV: Use a comma-separated file with source, destination headers and up to 1,000 rules. Paths or full HTTP URLs are accepted. Input is limited to 1 MB. 2. Trace the supplied map: Review duplicate sources, chains and loops. Ambiguous sources are excluded from tracing; each path is followed for at most 100 hops. 3. Decide and test before deployment: Confirm the intended final destinations yourself, update the real redirect configuration and test live responses. This tool does not deploy rules or check destination availability.

Does this check live redirects?

No. It follows only the relationships in your CSV. It cannot verify HTTP status codes, destination content, server rule order, query forwarding or whether a rule is deployed.

How are URL matches compared?

Surrounding spaces are trimmed. Absolute URLs use browser URL serialization; paths remain exact. Full URLs and paths are different keys. Case, query strings, percent encoding and trailing slashes can affect matches. Regex and prefix rules are not interpreted.

Will it choose the correct destination for me?

No. It flags conflicts and shows the supplied map. Choose destinations based on the real replacement content, then test them. A chain or loop count is not an SEO ranking score.
